Mixed media and stitch – a wonderfully versatile combination that gives me endless possibilities to express my love of drawing, my responses to the land and sea, and to share the stories about people and places that I value. Working with fabrics, print, paint and photography I layer and stitch together my images.
I am a textile artist and teacher now living in St Helens on the Isle of Wight, having fallen in love with this beautiful spot by the sea some 8 years ago during my first stay here. As my family were growing up I studied for a degree in Visual Communication at UCA in Kent, followed by a PGCE at University of Brighton and taught art and photography at secondary schools. Since moving to the Island I have been able to focus on developing my own work, but continue to enjoy my love of teaching by working as artist in residence in schools as well as running some stitch based workshops.
